Sierra Leoneans in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia received with shock and devastation the news of the death of the Minister of State in the Ministry of Health and Sanitation.

The news about Mohamed Daudis Koroma (photo) was also received at a time when the embassy in collaboration with the Sierra Leone nationals in the Kingdom were praying for their country to mark the end of the two days celebration of the 50th Independence anniversary of their country.

During the programme , the Ambassador, Wusu B. Munu, announced the sudden death of Daudis Koroma in London on Friday, April 29, 2011. He used the opportunity to ask his nationals to pray for the late young and dynamic minister who has been doing his job in an efficient and proper manner since his initial appointment in 2007 as Deputy Minister of Information and Communications.

It could be recalled that the late man has been very active in the implementation of various governmental initiatives including the free health care launched by President Ernest Bai Koroma last year.

“The death of Mohamed Daudis is not only a loss to his family, but the nation as a whole. Before his appointment, he was an outstanding journalist who did his job without fear or favour,” says Sierra Leone’s Press Attaché to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Alhaji Jalloh and Mohamed Koroma worked as Editor and Managing Editor respectively from 1995 to 2007 before both of them got political appointments under the current APC Government.

In a brief statement on the popular social networking website, Facebook, the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists, SLAJ says the late man died of natural causes.

The Embassy of the Republic of Sierra in Saudi Arabia extends its heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the bereaved family.
