A charitable organization, Queenak Foundation, based in Beijing, China, in collaboration with Royal Embrix Social Club has donated food and non-food items worth $USD2,500 to flood victims.

They made the timely donation through the Ministry of Social Welfare at the National Stadium recently.

Speaking on behalf of the Foundation, a senior staff of the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC), Lucian Ganda, said the organization was established in Sierra Leone by "one of our sisters", Ada Yang who is married to a Chinese national.

Ada Young has always been looking behind to help her country, Lucian said and recalled some of the greatest help she rendered to the country at the height of the Ebola virus by sending clinical materials, thermometer, facial masks and other protective materials through the Sierra Leone Medical Stores.

"This time she decided to step in again and help these victims who she said are her brothers and sisters," Lucian added.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the government of Sierra Leone, the Director of Children’s Affairs in the Ministry of Social Welfare Gender and Children Affairs, Madam Kadijatu Buya Kamara, expressed appreciation to members of Queenak Foundation and the Royal Embrix Social Club for what she described as a timely and adequate gesture for the suffering masses.

She prayed for long life and elevation of Ada Yang for always being there for her country of origin.

The Director of Children’s Affairs noted that the gesture was a gift of love and a demonstration that the nation was very much united in the face of disaster and promised to distribute the items equitably among intended beneficiaries.
