Canadian economist and banker Mark Carney, on Thursday January 16 announced his bid to become leader of the Liberal party of Canada. Carney has spent most of his life in the private sector and has been Governor of both the Bank of Canada and the Bank of England. He has consequently been highly successful in the private sector. This is the first time he wants to try his luck in politics and public life. Here is a report on his announcement at his hometown of Edmonton in Canada’s National Post newspaper:
