Earlier this week 328 Ukranians fleeing the war in their country arrived in Canada from Poland. At the airport to receive them was the Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister of Canada, Chrystia Freeland. Here are some of her thoughts on the memorable event:
Yesterday (Monday), with my colleagues in Winnipeg, we welcomed 328 Ukraine nationals from Poland to Canada who are seeking a safe haven from the war. This was one of the first of three federal charter flights to Canada.
Canada will continue to help those fleeing from the war when they arrive with the resources they need in their new communities. Thank you to everyone including Joanne Lewandoski and Ukrainian Canadian Congress volunteers who helped make this day a great success.
