The chief organiser of the 45th Sierra Leone
independence anniversary show in London, Mr Alie
Yorkie alias M.C. Lolly Pop(photo) was born on 28th
March,1968 in Kenema district in the eastern province
of Sierra Leone.
He got his elementary education at the St. Charles
Lwanga Primary School in Kenema and later gained
entrance into the Government Secondary School also in
Kenema, where he sat to and passed the G.C.S.E.O Level.
He travelled to the U.K in 1994. After arriving in
the U.K. he went into show biz and he has promoted a
lot of shows in both the U.K. and Sierra Leone. He is
the brain behind the biggest beauty pageant contest in
Sierra Leone since 2001 and this contest has been
going on since then.
He is presently the promotional manager for Paddy’s
International in Freetown and he is Miss Paddys
Beauty Contest host and promoter.
He has recently negotiated a TV programme
with Passion TV which will commence next month on
Channel 183 on Sky TV. This program is aimed at promoting
African musicians both at home and abroad.
He is presently the resident M.C. for FUS Night Club ,
the only Sierra Leone Night Club in London.
According to the New Vision newspaper(Sierra Leone) of
August 25th 2004,he has been voted best designer in
Sierra Leone for three consecutive years.
