Today marks a historic milestone in global health! The World Health Organization has declared Cabo Verde malaria-free, making it the 3rd country in Africa to achieve this remarkable goal.
Africa bears a significant malaria burden, with 94% of the world’s cases and 95% of the world’s malaria-related deaths occurring on the continent in 2022.
Cabo Verde’s exemplary leadership brings us even closer to a malaria-free world—which is achievable through collective action, community engagement, and investment in the right tools. Now is the time to redouble efforts to accelerate progress across the continent and around the world to eradicate this unforgiving disease.
