Freetown, the capital of Sierra Leone, is in a state of intense mourning as news of the death of the wife of Vice President Solomon Berewa hit its streets and alleys.
Mrs. Deborah Berewa, who has been spending time with her children in Atlanta and was about to board a plane to return home for Christmas suddenly took ill and died in hospital.
In Freetown, a mass in her honour was held at the family residence on Spur Road where thousands of well wishers and sympathisers thronged to offer condolences to the Vice President who is said to be in deep mourning.
