UNDP PRESS RELEASE

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Sierra Leone is pleased to announce the relaunch of its website, which can be accessed by logging onto www.sl.undp.org.

The main purpose of the ‘UNDP Sierra Leone’ website is to inform local and international media, opinion leaders, bi-lateral and multilateral donor agencies and the general public on the UNDP’s strive for accelerating progress towards achieving the Millennium Development Goals. The website illustrates that objective through information on the UNDP’s support to a strategic approach to peace consolidation, poverty reduction, good governance, protection of human rights, strengthening the rule of law and balanced economic growth.

The website, which was created in 2005, has now been revamped and updated, and a considerable amount of new content has been added. It has been redesigned to be more informative, user-friendly and easier to navigate, so that it is practical for those people also those who are not familiar with the UN system.

Several exciting additions to the website have now been included. A section devoted specifically to the attainment of the Millennium Development Goals, information on jobs within the UN, and an interactive Media Centre have all been added.

In the Media Centre, press releases and news stories issued by the UNDP are recorded and available to download. Many stories are complemented by photos which are also accessible. In addition, journalists now have the power to become members of the United Nations Media Club in Sierra Leone, by registering through the site.
