New SLDC Boss Appointed

Sierra Leone Diamond Company Limited ("SLDC" or the "Company") Board Appointment

HAMILTON, Bermuda, Sept. 9 /CNW/ - Sierra Leone Diamond Company (AIM :
SLD), the diamond exploration company with licence interests wholly focussed
in the country of Sierra Leone, is pleased to announce the appointment of
Michael Wittet (Aged: 58) as a Non-Executive Director of the Company.

Mr Wittet graduated in 1969 with a B.Sc Hons in Chemical Engineering from
the University of Edinburgh. His entire thirty six year career has been
entirely with De Beers and Anglo American, firstly as a metallurgist and more
recently in general management of small to large scale diamond mines. For the
previous twenty five years he has held senior management positions with De
Beers Botswana and until earlier this year was deputy managing director of
Debswana Diamond Company, the world’s most profitable diamond mine.

Commenting on the appointment, SLDC’s CEO Mr David Gadd-Claxton, said:

"Michael Wittet brings to SLDC a wealth of diamond mining experience
gained from De Beers which will be invaluable over the next few years as SLDC
executes its exploration and development strategy. I now believe that SLDC has
the correct mix of technical and financial expertise on the board to execute
this strategy".
