The ruling SLPP government of Sierra Leone has appointed a new High
Commissioner to the United Kingdom.

He is Mr. Melvin Chalobah. He is expected to replace the current Sierra Leone
High Commissioner, Mr Sulaiman Tejan Jalloh.

Diplomat Chalobah, who is currently the Sierra Leone High Commissioner in
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, is expected to take over the London office at the end
of August.

The Information Attaché at the High Commission in London, Mr Sorie Fofana,
told the Vanguard that the outgoing High Commissioner
Tejan Jalloh will be redeployed as Sierra Leone Ambassador to the United
States of America.

Mr. Fofana disclosed that if all goes well Mr Tejan Jalloh will take up his
new assignment in Washington DC in late August. His successor Mr. Chalobah
will simultaneously take over the London office.

Ambassador S.T. Jalloh, who joined the London High Commission in 1999 as
Deputy High Commissioner, was Transport and Communications Minister prior to his diplomatic
appointment.
