Isa Tejan-Cole Johansen (photo), president of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has reacted for the first time after her release from police custody over allegations of corruption by the country’s country’s Anti-Corruption Commission.

She was released on bail last week. She and some of her senior officials were arrested after they returned home from an African Nations Cup match between Sierra Leone and Cote D’Ivoire in Bouake, Cote D’Ivoire.

Unconfirmed reports state that SLFA Vice President Brima Mazolla Kamara and Secretary-General Christopher Kamara have also been released.

Here is Isa’s reaction on social media after her release:

Message from President of Sierra Leone Football Association

Events over the past 48 hours involving my arrest by the Anti-Corruption and subsequent custody at the C.I.D left me shocked and mortified.

I am happy to report that I have been released without any charges.

My innocence in any allegation/s involving corruption or related offences is undisputed.

My fourteen year career in football administration nationally and globally has from the onset been centred around bringing INTEGRITY and GOOD GOVERNANCE into football in the belief that healthy football family can contribute to creating a healthy nation.

I thank all the numerous well wishers from every nation, creed and gender whose prayers and cries echoed through the walls where I was held overnight.

SIERRA LEONE FOOTBALL IS ON A JOURNEY

AND EVERY ROAD HAS ITS BUMPY PATCH

We are back on the road again...God bless you all and thank you.
