I recently read a story in some Sierra Leonean newspapers that got me shaking my head in total consternation.
The story in brief says some senior government officials including cabinet ministers were involved in a corruption scandal over a land deal at a place called Clay Factory, east of the capital of Sierra Leone, Freetown.
What caused my consternation was that the publications concerned meticulously named and described the government officials involved but never named or described the people that allegedly sold the alleged land at Clay Factory to the alleged government officials. Which made me wonder whether this is not just another well planned political media attack from the opposition.
Meanwhile, I have done some preliminary investigation of the said issue and what I have learnt so far is that none of the government officials mentioned had anything to do with Clay Factory. More on Clay Factory later. I almost called it a saga but I won’t. Too cliche.
Ah, Salone.
