As part of a larger family of the West African power project in Sierra Leone, the Bumbuna sub-station in the North of Sierra Leone is nearing its completion stage. This is an impressive achievement of Sierra Leone’s current sitting President. He had initially developed an ambitious national electricity plan which he is pushing to accomplish before the end of his second term in office, by God’s grace.

Having met his electricity goal for the Southern and Eastern cities of Bo and Kenema, President Bio has now focused his attention on the capital, Freetown, and a number of strategic towns in the Northern province by pushing ahead with this elaborate West African power project which has been described as a web..

Here is his idea: He has urged engineers to accelerate the Bikonghor sub-station in Kono district in order to bring the electricity connection between Kono and Tonkolili districts to fruition- this has almost been achieved thereby creating the interconnection simplification between Bumbuna and Freetown which will allow this power pool to push power into Freetown. This is work is in progress and will be completed soon.

It is believed that, added to other sources of power, the West African power project has already started to create comfortability for many Sierra Leoneans and the capital, Freetown, will soon be part of that comfort zone.
