As human beings we are always reminded that death is inevitable.

When, where and how remains with the Almighty God. The Sierra Leone and African Communities in Edmonton, AB, Canada, join the Kabba family in Edmonton, AB, around Canada within the Diaspora and back home in Sierra Leone to mourn the death of veteran journalist and gifted sports writer Alhaji Saramadi Kabba (pictured), who succumbed to illness in the early hours Friday October 22, 2016.

Alhaji Kabba was a doyen within the media in Sierra Leone, a member of SLAJ and of course founder member of SWASAL. He was also president of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA ) in mid 1990s. I could vividly recall, when he transitioned to Edmonton, AB, from Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, ahead of his family who joined him weeks later, I was his guest and we spent quality time together.

His death came just weeks after another SLFA former President late Justice M.E.Tholla-Thompson and two other Journalists, late Samuel John Jr. Deputy Editor of AWOKO Newspaper and Andrew Smith formerly of SLBC Newsroom.

Alhaji Kabba was for many years a very senior staff member of Sierra Leone Daily Mail. While in Edmonton too, we opened up two news magazines and he was a respected elder within the Sierra Leone and other immigrant communities in Edmonton, AB.

I’m of the strong conviction that Alhaji Saramadi Kabba is free of all pains and would have gone to join his ancestors with the saints.

It’s up to us to learn from his good virtues and pray for God’s forgiveness for whatever sins he may have committed.

To the children, grandchildren and other family members, let’s take heart and may his soul and those of the faithful departed RIP !!
