Sierra Leone attained her political independence from Great Britain on April
27, 1961 and Sierra Leoneans have been commemorating this historic
event worldwide. In the United Kingdom, this year’s celebration is a special
one for Sierra Leoneans because of the arrival in London of their country’s
most radical musician to grace the occasion.
Emmerson Bockarie, alias Bobor Belleh, is a fearless musical genius who has
captivated all patriotic Sierra Leoneans at home and abroad for highlighting
the ills of Sierra Leone today. Dubbed ‘Bob Marley of Sierra Leone’ Emmerson
is slated to thrill his compatriots Saturday April 29 at the Brixton
Recreation Hall in South London.
He is accompanied by Vida, a very popular musical star in the making. Her
angelic voice in Emmerson’s best selling album Bobor Belleh is testament to
this fact.
The Patriotic Vanguard London Chief is expected to have an exclusive
interview with Emmerson. So stay tuned for the latest.
