Two big names in the ruling Sierra Leone People’s
Party (SLPP) last Tuesday declared for the opposition
All People’s Congress (APC) at an impressive ceremony
at the party’s headquarters, Marine House, Hannah Benka
Coker Street.
SLPP Member of Parliament, Niniyama, Kono District,
Hon. Augustine Torto and former Public Relations
Officer, SLPP Kono Branch, Bockarie Kondeh, were both
decorated with party ID cards by the party’s leader,
Hon. Ernest Bai Koroma, who was just returning from a
two-week long overseas trip.
Hon. Augustine Torto told news men during the ceremony
that he had been carefully following the political
activities in the country and believes the only way
out for Sierra Leone is through the APC.
“I am not a stranger in the APC and I am not in the
party to beg for a symbol,” Torto said adding that he
joined the APC with an open heart and will remain with
the party till death.
For his part, Bockarie Kondeh believes the time was
now fully ripe for him to join the APC and believes
it’s now time for the APC to penetrate deeply into
Kono.
APC leader Hon. Ernest Bai Koroma(photo)remarked that the
development is an indication that the APC is moving
forward against all odds, adding that his party is
committed towards the development of Kono.
He said he was glad that the the two men had finally
realised that the APC is the only way out for Sierra
Leoneans.
