Another Sad Loss: APC Vice Chairman Passes Away

Honourable Victor Chukuma Johnson, Vice Chairman of the ruling APC party, Deputy Speaker and Member of Parliament has passed away, over the weekend, after a very sudden heart attack during the funeral ceremony of President Ernest Koroma’s mother in Makeni, Northern Sierra Leone.

The late Chukuma Johnson who has recently not been in the best of health (he spent some time in a London hospital) was a Justice of the Peace and was Deputy Speaker of Parliament. He had been a Member of Parliament since 2000.

He has had a distinguished and dedicated service to the nation, particularly in the areas of General Commerce, Public Service and Politics, having served as Managing Director, J.L. Morrison Son and Jones and later acted as Chairman, Committee of Management, Freetown City Council; a Member of the Board of Governor of the W.A.M. Collegiate and the Government Secondary Technical Schools; he was until his sudden passing away serving as Member in the Finance, Public Accounts, Appointments and the Public Service and Human Rights Committees in Parliament.

He recently received the Commander of the Order of the Republic of Sierra Leone (CRSL) award from President Koroma (photo, left) in recognition of his distinguished and dedicated service to the nation, particularly in the areas of General Commerce, Public Service and Politics.
