As further efforts to explore economic opportunities and assess the possibility of establishing a consulate to facilitate the diplomatic work, the Sierra Leonean ambassador to the Russian Federation, Dr Salieu Mohamed Turay, paid a three-day official working visit to Sofia, Bulgaria.
Bulgaria is one of the twenty-two countries that fall under his diplomatic jurisdiction in Europe.
During the visit, Dr Turay, who was accompanied by the Head of Chancery and counsellor, Mr Ibrahim Kondoh, held discussions with the deputy director-general at the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr Ivan Dimitrov.
The diplomats, at length, exchanged views on the state of bilateral relations and reaffirmed the mutual disposition to develop and strengthen the many-sided Sierra Leonean-Bulgarian interaction comprehensively in the interests of both countries.
Dr Turay(pictured) further informed his host about the problems his country went through during the civil war and also expressed satisfaction with the rapid developments the country is making since President Koroma took power two years ago.
He mentioned economic and business opportunities that have emerged and various areas that are available for foreign investors in Sierra Leone, adding that the government has taken steps aimed at working towards good governance, observing the rule of law and promote political tolerance and economic development.
The ambassador and his delegation later met with a prominent businessman, Dr John Cooper, who desired to be made an honorary consul-general of Sierra Leone in Sofia.
