Africa investor (Ai), a leading international investment research and communication Group has concluded its Ai Nigeria Infrastructure Projects Summit in Abuja Nigeria.
The Summit attracted business and government leaders and was held at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja between Monday June 16 and Tuesday June 17, 2008.
The Vice-chairman of Africa investor, Mr Hubert Danso said the Nigeria Summit was conceived as a platform for investors to form partnerships and consortia to advance investable infrastructure projects in Nigeria. Danso said Africa investor was delighted to be able to respond to the invitation from the government to hold a Nigeria specific Projects Summit and there is no doubt the Summit has advanced a number of significant infrastructure projects.
He stated that Africa investor has a strategic focus on Nigeria and has committed to hold an annual Ai Nigeria Infrastructure Projects Summit to take forward the several project tabled and advanced at this years Summit.
Summit delegates discussed the complexity of developing significant infrastructure projects and partnerships and shared views on a number of successful models to ensure Nigerian projects are professionally structured, marketed and facilitated to financial close.
In his closing address Dr. Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, Chairman Africa investor and Executive President of the African Business Roundtable/ NEPAD Business Group announced alongside next years Africa Investor Nigeria infrastructure Projects Summit, Ai will host the Africa Investor Nigeria infrastructure Awards. These awards will recognise both the public and private sector for their contributions towards developing Nigeria’s infrastructure programmes.
The Summit featured several topics ranging from regulation and the infrastructure investment climate, to energy, transport, Oil & Gas, Telecoms & ICT sectors and how to leverage strategic partnerships with Asia. The Summit also focused on project preparation and the capital raising process as well as catalyzing trade flows through tabled regional project opportunities presented by ECOWAS.
