No Sierra Leonean president has shown interest in the fortunes of the Sierra Leonean national team, the Leone Stars, as current president Julius Maada Bio. The First Lady Madam Fatima Bio, is a huge fan too. Every effort has been made to motivate the team and make them comfortable and eager to shock the world with their prowess.
The spectacular performance by the boys from the Lion Mountains in Douala, Cameroon, yesterday, after nearly 30 years away from the African Nations Cup soccer extravaganza, has already garnered respect for Sierra Leone as a soccer nation. Here is a special message from President Bio to the players:
We are very proud of you, our Leone Stars. Man of the Match, Mohamed Kamara, you and the team gave the defending champions a great run. Together, we will make our roar heard across Africa and bring the cup home!
